President William Ruto has backed the entrance of American billionaire Elon Musk’s satellite internet service Starlink into the Kenyan market.
Speaking during his tour of the United States (US) on Tuesday, September 24, Ruto confirmed he gave the green light for the SpaceX subsidiary to operate in Kenya. The president encouraged competition among internet service providers (ISPs) to ensure customers receive high-quality services.
While responding to Ruto’s remarks, Musk expressed satisfaction with the significant impact that Starlink, his satellite internet service provider, has had in Kenya. “As the president of Kenya says, Starlink causes local competitors to provide better services,” he posted on X.
President of Kenya said Starlink’s investment has the ability to significantly enhance high-speed connectivity in remote villages and schools countrywide.
The head of state visited the StarLink/SpaceX factory in Los Angeles, United States and urged the organisation to work towards reducing the cost of internet access in the country.

Lors de sa tournée aux États-Unis (États-Unis) mardi 24 septembre, Ruto a confirmé avoir donné le feu vert à la filiale de SpaceX pour opérer au Kenya. Le président a encouragé la concurrence entre les fournisseurs de services Internet (FSI) pour garantir aux clients des services de haute qualité.
En réponse aux remarques de Ruto, Musk s’est déclaré satisfait de l’impact significatif que Starlink, son fournisseur de services Internet par satellite, a eu au Kenya. “Comme le dit le président du Kenya, Starlink pousse les concurrents locaux à fournir de meilleurs services”, a-t-il posté sur X.
Le président du Kenya a déclaré que l’investissement de Starlink a la capacité d’améliorer considérablement la connectivité haut débit dans les villages et les écoles éloignés du pays.
Le chef de l’État a visité l’usine StarLink/SpaceX à Los Angeles, aux États-Unis, et a exhorté l’organisation à travailler à réduire le coût de l’accès à Internet dans le pays.
